I N S T R U C T I O N S

Organizing team: TJ Slávia Farmaceut Bratislava

Rules: Competition will be carried out in accordance to the current rules of Slovak Orienteering Federation – TrailO section (based on IOF rules with small insignificant deviations).

Prizes and ceremony: The first three in absolute order of each round ECTO will be awarded by practical prizes. Overall (Slovak TrailO weekend) 6 best competitors (E-OPen and Para) will be awarded by practical prizes. Overall (Slovak TrailO weekend) 3 best competitors (A) will be awarded by practical prizes. The first three in the Slovak and Czech championship competitions will receive diplomas, medals and small prizes. First three competitors in overall Slovak Cup will be awarded.

Embargoed areas for ETOC 2018: Link to ETOC2018 site. All embargoed areas are out of bounds for all potential ETOC 2018 team members (competitors, officials, escorts, etc.) and any other person who may influence the results of the competitions by any knowledge of the terrain

PreO

Date: 28 October (Saturday) 2017

Event centre: Castle Červený Kameň, near village Častá (map of event centres: Link to Google map).

Coordinates: N 48.39459°, E 17.3334°

Start: 9:00, interval start in 90 second interval. We had to changed time of the start and start procedure due large number of competitors.

Special start procedure: Only the 40 competitors will start to the part 1 (map part 1). The remaining competitors will start parallel on second part (map part 2) due saving overall time. They will start by solving and punching controls from CP with number 13 – 16 and will take TC on beginning of their second part (map part 1 – CPs 1 – 12).

Distances:
Event centre – Start 1: – 250m
Finish 1 – Event centre: – 300m
Event centre – Start 2: – 600m
Finish 2 – start 3: – 350m
Finish 3 – Event centre: – 450m
Parking – Event centre: 50 – 200m.

Classes: E-Open and A

Terrain description: We tried to choose most interesting and most accessible terrain for all competitors, but there small amount of difficult parts for wheelchair competitors due occasional tree roots and stones (our club member will try help wheelchair competitors on the route). It is not so typical part of the mountain Small Carpathian. There are a lots of small and large rocks in a wooded part. Map is situated in deciduous forest with diverse land forms. Forest paths with mostly firm surface.

Registration: In the event centre from 8:00 to 10:00. Representatives of clubs will obtain personalized start numbers, paper control cards (or SPORTident chips- if it was requested).

Additional entries: It will be possible registry (for the original entry fee), but only in very limited amount (about 10 competitors).

WC, WC for disabled: toilets are available in castle areal close to entry. WC for disabled is situated in women toilets

Course: The course has a length of 400 meters (elevation 15 m) and 24 controls. Route consists of three parts on two maps. The first part has length 200 meters (10 meters elevation) with 12 controls. The second and third part on second map has together length 200 meters (5 meters elevation) with 12 controls. The control sites can be visited in free order, but it is necessary keep one-way routes so some control is not possible solve in free order (1-4 CPs are necessary solve in free order before one-way, 5-8 CPs are necessary solve in free order before one-way, 9-10 CPs are necessary solve in free order before one-way, etc.).

It is necessary punch start and finish for each part by SPORTident. The SI reading is in event centre after processing whole course. Clear and check procedures will accessible only in event centre.

Marking of course: Part of the route leaded on small unpaved footpath (map symbol 507) will be marked by red and white strips. Some branches lines can be marked on the map by purple line, which means no entry on this path (trail). It will be mark by red and white strips across the road (path). There are some one-way on track wher is permited go only one direction. There are referees. Going outside the designated route or go back on one-way will lead in disqualification.

Special rules: It is permitted leave the trail during overtaking and avoidance other competitors or by wheelchair competitors avoiding occasional tree roots and stones. The most critical part will be marked. It is not permitted to cross borders marked by tapes in the terrain.

Time limit: E-Open 84 minutes, E-Para 94 minutes Limit is defined for all part together. Moving between these parts is not counting to limit.

Time control: on the beginning of the first part of course. There are one time stations with 3 task and 6 flags. The limit for passing time control is 90 seconds. The penalty for each incorrect answer is 60 seconds. The time controls are without zero control.

Please be prepared answer immediately (do not delay by preparing glasses, magnifier, compass, etc.) due very short start time interval. We would like provide the same conditions for everybody. The referees will show you all flags (from Alfa to Foxtrot).

Punching answers: Times and answers will be measured/recorded by SPORTident. Time controls will be measured on ANT. The electronic punching system (SPORTident) for each task will be placed near decision points. We will show new test punching system for this ECTO and ETOC 2018 in event centre. Remember that it is not possible to correct your answer. None or more than one answer is equal to incorrect answer.

The paper card have reduced size and it will be used only as backup solution when SI fail (you will not hear beep and/or red light will not flash – confirmation of marking) – please use a pin from your start number.

Results: Online results in event centre.

Attention for TrailO specialists: The courses are set by object style. Sighting lines and bearing are not the decisive factors in determining the controls points. Each task is possible to solve by reading map. There are increased amount of object in some parts of map which can be little adjusted against each other for better map readability.

ZERO tolerance: The distance between Z controls to the closest flag is 5 or more meters. Some examples will be show in event centre.

Attention: Communication between the competitors during the race is not allowed. It is expecting that you will not to disturb the other competitors. Mobile devices cannot be used except emergency situations or with referee agreement. Please keep these rules. Please be careful towards handicapped competitors who have precedence on decision-making viewpoint.

Price giving ceremony: provisionally about 17:00. We plan price giving ceremony as soon as possible after the event.

Complaints or Protests (after rejected complaints): verbally or in writing form to event director or course setters. No fees.

Relay

Additional entries: It will be possible registry (for the original entry fee), but only in very limited amount (about 5 teams).

WC, WC for disabled: toilets are available in castle areal close to entry.

Course: The course has a length of 800 meters (elevation 10 m) and 9 controls per leg. The control sites can be visited in free order, but it is necessary keep one-way routes so some control is not possible solve in free order (1-2 CPs are necessary solve in free order before one-way, 3CP is mandatory to solve as third, others have free order, but before finish are two one-way routes – important is to have marked all CPs before it).

Forking: Motala system – the competitors have to solve the same control sites.

The time controls can contain zero answers. You have to choose your TC according your colour on start number – red, blue and green. The tents have colour corresponding with your colour on start number.

TempO

Date: 29 October (Sunday) 2017

Event centre: village Studienka, community centre (map of event centres: Link to Google map)

Coordinates: N 48.52658°, E 17.13729°

Start: 9:00.

Distances:
Event centre – Start: – 950m
Finish – Event centre: – 1200m
Parking – Event centre: 50 – 200m.

There are area for disposal / processing of construction waste on the way to start and back from finish. It should not be handle during competition but to be careful by passing this area.

Classes: E-Open, A – same course for both categories

Terrain description: Typical flat terrain (very similar to ETOC2018 terrain for TempO competitions) for lowland Záhorie – pine forest with sand dunes. A forest path with mostly firm surface but on some places is sand surface. The critical parts will be covered by carpets or by linoleum.

 

 

 

 

Registration: In the event centre from 8:00 to 10:00 only for competitors starting only in TempO competition.

WC, WC for disabled: toilets are available in community centre (mobile toilet for wheelchairs will be near event centre).

Course: The course has a length of 1300 meters (elevation 20 m). There are six time stations each with 5 task and 6 flags. The limit for passing time control is 150 seconds. The penalty for each incorrect answer is 30 seconds. The time controls can contain zero answers.

Marking of course: will be marked by red and white strips.

Please be prepared answer immediately (do not delay by preparing glasses, magnifier, compass, etc.) due very short start time interval. We would like provide the same conditions for everybody. The referees will show you all flags (from Alfa to Foxtrot).
